![]() ![]() Jimmy Masters has been playing bass for over 30 years. He was Born in 1954 in Holliston, Massachusetts, in what he describes as "a small cow-town of a place where we had ducks and chickens in the yard and more exposure to nature than anyone could ever ask for." Two events happened that had a profound influence on steering the course of Jimmy's life toward the instrument he loves so dearly: the Bass. One was, at an early age, seeing Ray Brown playing on the Merv Griffin Show. The second was watching The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show at the age of 10. His musical journeys have taken him through every kind of music, from rock, acoustic, folk, bluegrass and country music to classical music, straight-ahead jazz and the avante garde scene. His bass of choice is a beautiful German flatback made circa 1870. It is a cottage industry instrument with a full, fat, warm tone. He found it in pieces, in a surfer's home and had the instrument completely rebuilt. |
